Be The Light That Reveals

Be The Light That Reveals (18 July 2008)

Luke 2:30-32

“For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all people, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”

Alleluia! Thank you Lord for your Light that you have given to us. And Lord we know that your light never fails to illuminate every corner, every thought and every motive. In You there is no darkness for You are the bright morning Star that pierce through every single soul. So even as we study Your word, may the same anointing come upon us that we might be the light that brings about restoration of Your purpose in every social order. So I pray for Your wisdom and grace to fill us as we are being led by the Spirit in the name of Jesus. Amen!

The Boy Jesus Amazes the Scholars

Let’s turn to Luke 2:42

“And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.”

Even at a tender age, Jesus had already gone to Jerusalem. This speaks of a different realm, a different dimension, a totally different encounter. Similar we need to enter into God’s effective ways of bringing change regardless of our age. Do not despise your youth.

And in Luke 2:46-47

“Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.”

One of the ways to be an effective change agent is to be an effective communicator. Communication is the key to everything in life. The bible says that life and death lie in the power of the tongue. Yes the ability to speak well is of paramount to your establishment of values and beliefs. What is communication? To many of us, it is talking at someone, to others it is hearing someone out. But the truth of the matter is, communication is rarely a one sided approach. Communication is asking probing questions and being attentive in listening and catching any verbal as well as non-verbal underlying message. Communication is also about being open in hearing the person out before commenting. Communication is about flowing in the spirit as we strike a conversation with others.

When we do that, the bible says in Luke 2:52

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Thus let us communicate as a light that reveals and as a light that pierce through every traditional paradigm that will bring about a real change in the lives of others. Remember that for you to penetrate through the darkness, you must be the light that reveals.
